…FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH LATE TUESDAY NIGHT…

The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of northwestern Connecticut, western Massachusetts, and New York, including the following areas, in northwestern Connecticut, Litchfield County. In western Massachusetts, Berkshire County. In New York, Eastern Columbia, Eastern Dutchess, Eastern Greene, Eastern Ulster, Western Columbia, Western Dutchess, Western Greene, and Western Ulster.

* From late tonight through late Tuesday night

* Tropical moisture from the remnants of Florence will overspread the region with rain tonight into Tuesday. Rain will be heavy at times overnight into Tuesday morning. 1 to 3 inches of rainfall is expected, though locally higher amounts are possible within embedded bands of heavier rain and a thunderstorm.

* Flash flooding is possible, especially for urban areas, creeks and small streams, and areas that have already experienced flooding in recent weeks. There is still some uncertainty for exactly where the heaviest rainfall will be, but flash flooding could be especially significant where it occurs.

 

Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 77. Light south wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

Tonight: Rain likely, then rain and possibly a thunderstorm after 11pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Low around 67. South wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 3pm, then rain likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. High near 74. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Tuesday Night: A chance of showers before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. North wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 72. North wind 5 to 8 mph.
